A Song of Sixpence
Watercolor on Arches cold press watercolor paper (with higgin's black ink)
2009

"Sing a song of sixpence
pocket full of rye
four and twenty blackbirds
 baked in a pie
when the pie was opened
the birds began to sing
Isn't this a dainty dish
to set before the king"

I wanted it to feel like an old story book drawing so I stuck with inked lines and muted colors.
For some reason this popped into my head and demanded to be painted. The funny thing is I couldn't even remember the entire rhyme and I had to look it up.
